Interested in watching some short films to finish September and start October off this 2021? Well, good news. Forty films by the Victorian College of the Arts Film and Television graduating class of 2020 are currently available to stream for free on MIFF Play, with the special season lasting from September 27th until October 11th. With comedy and coming of age, dramas and documentaries, fantasy and sci-fi, plus more, it’s a diverse mix of both live-action and animation. The season is part of a new, ongoing partnership between the VCA and MIFF Play.
With all films produced under tight covid-safe restrictions, said Head of VCA Film and Television Andrew O’Keefe: “The traditional benchmarks and measures of success in filmmaking don’t apply in this context. Each student has demonstrated incredible resilience and commitment to realise their vision and accomplish their work.”
Said MIFF Artistic Director Al Cossar: “VCA continues to be an extraordinary setting for the development of cinematic visions and filmmaking voices – those that have charted a path far within the industry, and within the attention and affections of audiences. Through this graduate season, presented on MIFF Play, and delivered by the determination of emerging student filmmakers in tumultuous times – we get a glimpse of who’s next.”
